21 models made in-house — from the compact NOVIAL for a studio flat to large models for a spacious living room. Sofa beds and non-folding sofas, in sizes from 144 to 340 cm.
Where to start
The first question is not “which sofa looks better” but “how often will someone sleep on it”.
If you need a sofa for everyday sleeping, look only at models with a confirmed full-size sleeping area and a design built to be unfolded every day. In our range these are mainly Dolphin models, which have the largest sleeping areas.
If it is for guests a few times a month, the choice is much wider. Models with a more compact sleeping area will do: they cost less and take up less space.
If the sofa is for sitting only, take a non-folding model. You will not pay for a mechanism you will never use, and you get a sturdier construction.
Step two is measuring the room. Not just the space for the sofa, but also the walkway past it when it is unfolded. The most common mistake is buying a sofa that fits neatly against the wall but, once unfolded, blocks the way to the balcony.
Folding mechanisms
Eurobook — the seat pulls forward and the backrest folds down into its place. A simple design with a minimum of moving parts, so it is reliable. It needs a little clearance from the wall.
Dolphin — the lower section pulls out from under the seat and rises level with it. The main advantage: you do not have to move the sofa away from the wall. Our models with this mechanism have the largest sleeping areas.
Accordion — unfolds forward in three sections and gives a long sleeping area while staying compact in width when folded.
Tick-tock (pantograph) — the seat “steps” forward without rubbing on the floor. A good choice if you have parquet or laminate you do not want scratched.
Fold-out (clamshell) mechanism — a light mechanism for occasional use, usually with a single sleeping area.
A detailed comparison of the Eurobook and the Dolphin is in a separate article, which explains which mechanism suits which scenario.
A sofa bed that needs no mattress
A familiar story: someone buys a sofa bed, sleeps on it for a month, then buys a thin mattress or a mattress topper — because the surface is uneven or lacks support.
Our sofa bed models have an orthopaedic base: the unfolded surface is ready for everyday sleeping straight away, with nothing extra to buy.
The comparison here is not “sofa versus sofa”, but a sofa with a ready sleeping area versus a sofa plus a mattress. In the second case, another purchase is added to the price, and the total comes out higher.
In the specifications of each model this is a separate line — “Orthopaedic properties”. If you are choosing a sofa specifically for everyday sleeping, check it before ordering.
Filling
All our upholstered furniture is filled with durable polyurethane foam of varying density. Firmer layers underneath provide support and hold the shape; softer layers on top provide seating comfort.
We do not use spring units. A combination of polyurethane foam of varying density gives even support across the whole surface: no separate areas that sag on their own, and no metal that starts responding to every movement over time.
A layer of hollow fibre lies between the fabric and the foam. It holds the shape: it keeps the upholstery from sagging and smooths the transition, so creases do not appear at the seams over time.
Hidden parts are lined with Fibertex — the underside and inner surfaces that nobody looks at in a showroom, yet this is where a piece quietly wears the most. The lining protects the inner layers from dust and friction.
This solution is the same across the whole range — from a pouf to a large corner sofa. You do not choose between a “cheap” and an “expensive” filling: it is the same, and the price difference goes into the construction, size and fabric.
More on this in the article Polyurethane foam or spring unit: why our sofas have no springs.
Fabrics
All our fabrics are hypoallergenic. In addition, some collections have extra properties: anti-scratch — with a dense weave that stands up better to claws, and water-repellent — with a treatment that makes stains easier to remove.
The fabrics are divided into three categories — ECO, PRESTIGE and PREMIUM. It is important to understand that the category determines the price, not the set of properties. Anti-scratch and water-repellent collections exist in different categories, so choose by the specific collection, not by the tier.
Tell our manager about your situation — children, pets, a sunny side, how often you plan to clean — and you will get a selection of specific collections for your case. We send samples so you can see and touch them before ordering.
Production and delivery
MeBelle is a full-cycle factory: we make the sofa ourselves, from the frame to the final finish.
Custom sizes are possible, but every change is agreed with our production engineer first: not all adjustments are compatible with the mechanism and the strength of the frame. Custom sizes take longer to make.
Before ordering, measure the delivery route: door width, the turn in the hallway, the lift dimensions. For modular and corner models, check the size of the individual modules — they often fit where an assembled sofa would not.
Frequently asked questions
- Which sofa should I choose for everyday sleeping?
- Look at Dolphin models — they have the largest sleeping area and a design built to be unfolded every day. Always check the sleeping area of the specific model: it varies a lot between sofas, and not every one is suitable for sleeping on every day.
- What is the difference between ECO, PRESTIGE and PREMIUM?
- These are price categories, not quality levels. All our fabrics are hypoallergenic; anti-scratch and water-repellent collections exist in each of the three categories. So choose by the specific collection for your situation, not by the tier.
- Why are there no spring units in your sofas?
- We deliberately use only combined polyurethane foam of varying density. It gives even support across the whole surface, with no separate areas that sag on their own. This solution is the same across the whole range.
- Is there a storage compartment?
- It depends on the model: some include it as standard, some offer it as a paid option, and some do not have one. Whether there is a storage compartment is stated in the specifications of each sofa.
- How long will I wait for a sofa?
- Our manager will give you the exact lead time: it depends on the model and on whether the dimensions change.
- Can I order a sofa in my own size?
- Yes, we are the manufacturer and we take on custom sizes. But first our production engineer checks that the specific change will not affect the strength of the frame or the mechanism — so each case is considered individually.
