Why a corner sofa
A corner sofa does two jobs that a straight one cannot.
It zones the space. In studio flats and open-plan kitchen-living rooms, a corner sofa works as a boundary: it separates the seating area from the kitchen or workspace without blocking light or needing partitions.
It gives more sleeping space on the same floor area. Thanks to the corner, you get a wider sleeping area than a straight sofa of the same length would give.
There is a downside, though: a corner sofa ties you to one layout. It is much harder to move around the room than a straight one, so plan its position in advance.
Left- or right-hand corner
Here is how to tell: stand facing the sofa. If the longer part goes to the left, it is a left-hand corner; if to the right, a right-hand one.
Some of our models have an interchangeable corner: it can be assembled on either side, so you do not have to make a final decision when ordering. This is handy if you have not settled on the layout yet or are planning to move. Whether a model has this option is stated in its specifications.
Size is the main question
The range in our catalogue is wide: from 200 to 420 cm. That is a huge difference, and you should choose by the room, not by preference.
Work it out like this: add a walkway of at least 70–80 cm along each open side to the length of the sofa. A 320 cm corner sofa in a room 350 cm wide will turn it into a corridor.
Check the depth when unfolded separately — it is greater than the depth of the folded sofa, and this is where people most often find the walkway blocked.
A sofa bed that needs no mattress
A familiar story: someone buys a sofa bed, sleeps on it for a month, then buys a thin mattress or a mattress topper — because the surface is uneven or lacks support.
Our sofa bed models have an orthopaedic base: the unfolded surface is ready for everyday sleeping straight away, with nothing extra to buy.
The comparison here is not “sofa versus sofa”, but a sofa with a ready sleeping area versus a sofa plus a mattress. In the second case, another purchase is added to the price, and the total comes out higher.
In the specifications of each model this is a separate line — “Orthopaedic properties”. If you are choosing a sofa specifically for everyday sleeping, check it before ordering.
Filling
All our upholstered furniture is filled with durable polyurethane foam of varying density. Firmer layers underneath provide support and hold the shape; softer layers on top provide seating comfort.
We do not use spring units. A combination of polyurethane foam of varying density gives even support across the whole surface: no separate areas that sag on their own, and no metal that starts responding to every movement over time.
A layer of hollow fibre lies between the fabric and the foam. It holds the shape: it keeps the upholstery from sagging and smooths the transition, so creases do not appear at the seams over time.
Hidden parts are lined with Fibertex — the underside and inner surfaces that nobody looks at in a showroom, yet this is where a piece quietly wears the most. The lining protects the inner layers from dust and friction.
This solution is the same across the whole range — from a pouf to a large corner sofa. You do not choose between a “cheap” and an “expensive” filling: it is the same, and the price difference goes into the construction, size and fabric.
More on this in the article Polyurethane foam or spring unit: why our sofas have no springs.
Fabrics
All our fabrics are hypoallergenic. In addition, some collections have extra properties: anti-scratch — with a dense weave that stands up better to claws, and water-repellent — with a treatment that makes stains easier to remove.
The fabrics are divided into three categories — ECO, PRESTIGE and PREMIUM. It is important to understand that the category determines the price, not the set of properties. Anti-scratch and water-repellent collections exist in different categories, so choose by the specific collection, not by the tier.
Tell our manager about your situation — children, pets, a sunny side, how often you plan to clean — and you will get a selection of specific collections for your case. We send samples so you can see and touch them before ordering.
Before you order
Corner sofas arrive in modules. That is a good thing: individual modules often fit where an assembled sofa would not. Still, check the module dimensions against the doors, the turn in the hallway and the lift in advance — ask our manager for them for the specific model.
Custom sizes are agreed separately with our production engineer.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I know whether I need a left- or right-hand corner?
- Stand facing the place where the sofa will go. If the long part should go to the left, you need a left-hand corner. Some of our models have an interchangeable corner, in which case you do not need to decide in advance.
- How much space should I leave around a corner sofa?
- At least 70–80 cm of walkway along each open side. Also allow for the sofa becoming deeper when unfolded.
- Do all corner sofas fold out?
- No. The catalogue has both sofa beds and non-folding models. Whether there is a mechanism and which type is stated in each model’s specifications — check before ordering.
- Can the size of a corner sofa be changed?
- Yes, we make everything in our own factory. Any change to the dimensions is checked by our production engineer first: in corner models it affects both the strength of the frame and the mechanism.
- Will the sofa fit into my flat?
- Corner sofas are delivered in modules, so the chances are good — but we cannot guarantee it without the measurements. Send our manager the door width and the dimensions of the hallway and lift, and we will check them against the module sizes of the chosen model.
