Three models that differ not in design but in firmness. The base is the same in all of them — a pocket spring unit; the difference is how many natural firm layers sit on top of it.

Why mattresses have springs and sofas do not

This is not a contradiction; they do different jobs.

We do not use spring units in upholstered furniture — only polyurethane foam of varying density. A sofa is folded and unfolded every day, and a spring unit in a folding mechanism is the first thing to wear out.

A mattress is not folded. It lies flat, and here a pocket spring unit does what foam cannot: each spring works separately, in its own pocket. When one person turns over, the other side of the mattress does not move. On solid foam, the movement always travels across.

That is why our mattresses use pocket springs — a pocket spring unit.

Why these mattresses are called orthopaedic

In furniture terminology, an orthopaedic mattress is one that keeps the body straight, without sagging in the middle. This comes not from a special material but from the construction.

The pocket spring unit is responsible for it: each spring compresses exactly as much as it is pressed. The shoulders and hips sink deeper while the lower back stays supported — the surface follows the body instead of sagging into one common dip.

This is a description of the construction, not a medical promise: a mattress does not cure anything and does not replace a doctor’s advice. If you have been advised a particular firmness, go by that — that is exactly why we have three levels.

What a mattress is made of

Layer by layer, from the bottom up.

Pocket spring unit — the core. Each spring sits in its own textile pocket and works independently of its neighbours.

Felt — above and below the unit. A natural insulating layer that stops the springs from wearing through the upper layers and extends the life of the mattress. You cannot see or feel it, but without it a mattress starts to feel “springy” within a year.

Coconut coir — where firmness is needed. A natural fibre from the coconut husk, the firmest layer in the construction.

Polyurethane foam of varying density — the comfort layer above the coir. It is what decides whether the mattress feels soft to you or not.

Mattress fabric — top and bottom.

Three firmness levels

Letty — the softest. No coir at all: above the unit there is only felt and foam. Symmetrical, both sides the same.

Asty — two-sided. Coconut coir on one side. This means the mattress has two different sides: one firmer thanks to the coir, the other softer. If you do not like the firmness, turn it over and it is a different mattress. One purchase, two options.

Asty Lux — the firmest. Coir on both sides, symmetrical.

In practice: if you are not sure which firmness suits you, Asty settles the question — you can try both.

A mattress to fit your bed, not the other way round

Mattresses are made to the size of the bed, including non-standard ones. If you order the bed from us, the size is taken from it automatically, so there is no room for error.

If you already have a bed, measure the inside dimensions of the frame, from rail to rail, not the overall outside dimensions.

How long a mattress lasts

A pocket spring unit and felt are a construction built for years, not a season. But no mattress survives children jumping on it or lying on a solid surface without ventilation: the base should be slatted so that air can circulate.

What the headboard is made of

The headboard is sewn using the same technology as our sofas, from the same materials.

The filling is durable polyurethane foam of varying density. We do not use spring units in upholstered furniture: in a piece you lean your back against every day, they are the first to give way. Polyurethane foam of varying density holds its shape for years and does not sag.

The fabrics are all hypoallergenic. Some collections have additional properties: anti-scratch with a dense weave that stands up better to claws, and water-repellent with a treatment that makes stains easier to remove. For a bedroom with pets or a child’s room, this makes all the difference.

320 colours across three collections — ECO, PRESTIGE and PREMIUM Textile.

Frequently asked questions

What is a pocket spring?
A pocket spring unit: each spring is in its own textile pocket and compresses separately from its neighbours. When one person turns over, the other does not feel the movement.
Why do sofas have no spring units while mattresses do?
A sofa is folded every day, and in a folding mechanism a spring unit is the first thing to wear out — so in upholstered furniture we use only polyurethane foam of varying density. A mattress is not folded, and there a pocket spring unit gives what foam cannot.
What is the difference between Asty and Asty Lux?
The amount of coconut coir. In Asty it is on one side — the mattress is two-sided, with one side firmer than the other. In Asty Lux the coir is on both sides, so it is firmer and the same on both sides.
Which mattress is the softest?
Letty — it has no coconut coir at all; above the spring unit there is only felt and foam.
Why is there felt in a mattress?
It is an insulating layer between the spring unit and the comfort layers. It stops the springs from wearing through upwards and extends the life of the mattress.
Can I order a mattress in a non-standard size?
Yes. If the bed is also ours, the size is taken from it. If not, we need the inside dimensions of the frame.
