11 models for a home study, a child’s room and the office — from compact desks to large work surfaces.
Size of the work surface
This is the main thing, and there are figures worth knowing before you buy.
The minimum for a laptop is 80 cm wide. Anything less means there is no room even for a mug beside it.
Comfortable for a laptop with papers — from 100–120 cm.
For a monitor with a keyboard — from 120 cm, and at least 60 cm deep: there should be at least 50 cm between your eyes and the screen, otherwise your eyes tire faster.
For two monitors or a large format — from 140 cm.
A depth of less than 50 cm makes a desk awkward for anything but a laptop.
Height and posture
The standard desk height of 74–76 cm is designed for average height. If you are taller than 185 cm or shorter than 165, such a desk will be uncomfortable, and you will feel it in your shoulders and neck within an hour.
The right check: when seated, your elbows should be roughly level with the desktop, not raised.
We make desks in non-standard heights — a change that costs little and that you feel every day.
For a child, the height is chosen by their height, and here it is especially important not to buy “to grow into”: a desk that is too high makes a child raise their shoulders.
Material
We make it from E1-class MDF and chipboard, 18 mm thick. E1 is a formaldehyde emission class under the European classification — the level permitted for furniture in living spaces. It is a specific technical class of board, not an advertising phrase like “quality materials”: we have the certificate for the board, and you can request it together with the invoice.
Laser edging, from 0.4 to 2 mm depending on where it goes. The laser fuses the edge to the board without a glue line — the thin dark strip that yellows and peels over time on ordinary PVC edging. Visible edges get a thicker band, inner ones a thinner band: a thick edge inside would only eat into the usable space.
You choose the colour and combination of materials together with our manager — not from three options in a drop-down list, but to suit your interior. Before production starts, we prepare a visual in the chosen material: you see exactly how your desk will look before we start making it.
Dimensions and functions are not fixed either. The length and depth of the desktop, the height, whether it has a pedestal, drawers or shelves — all of this can be adjusted to your space and your habits. The model in the catalogue is a starting point, not a fixed product.
A desk in a child’s room
A scenario of its own. Three things matter here: height to suit the child’s height, no sharp corners and enough depth for both an exercise book and a laptop — schoolwork today uses both.
Frequently asked questions
- How wide should a desk be?
- At least 80 cm for a laptop, from 100–120 cm for a laptop with papers, from 120 cm for a monitor with a keyboard. At least 60 cm deep for a monitor.
- What is the right desk height?
- The standard 74–76 cm is designed for average height. Check yourself: when seated, your elbows should be level with the desktop, not raised. If not, we will make a non-standard height.
- Which desk should I choose for a child?
- Choose the height for the child’s current height, not to grow into: a desk that is too high makes a child raise their shoulders. The depth should hold both an exercise book and a laptop.
- Can I order a desk to my own dimensions?
- Yes, this is one of our most frequent custom orders. The dimensions and height are agreed with our production engineer.
- How long is the wait?
- Our manager will give you the exact lead time for your specific order.
