"Corner or straight" is one of the first questions anyone choosing a new sofa faces. There's no single answer: it all depends on the shape of the room, the number of people and the role the sofa plays in the interior. Let's compare.
A straight sofa: versatility
A straight sofa takes up less space diagonally, fits more easily into rooms of unusual shape, and is easier to move around in future. It's a good choice for small living rooms, studio bedrooms or studies. We wrote about choosing the width (200/220/280 cm) in the article "A sofa for the living room: which size fits".
A corner sofa: capacity and zoning
A corner sofa gives more seats on the same floor area and naturally divides the room into functional zones — for example, separating the lounge area from the dining area in an open-plan space. There's plenty to choose from in the Corner sofas section.

Consider the folding mechanism
If the sofa is often unfolded for sleeping, pay attention to the mechanism: for corner sofas, options such as the Dolphin are popular (they unfold without having to move the sofa away from the wall), for straight ones — the Eurobook.
A practical rule of thumb
- A room up to 16–18 m² — a straight sofa is usually more comfortable.
- A spacious living room or open-plan layout — a corner sofa uses the space more efficiently and creates a cosier area for the whole family.
