In a kitchen, what matters is not the length of the sofa but its depth: it stands by the table, and every extra centimetre forward is a centimetre missing from the walkway. Here are models up to 95 cm deep that have an option no wider than 190 cm.
Depth is the key figure, and it varies between models
We will say it plainly, because the purchase depends on it: only one model here has a truly kitchen depth — NOVIAL, 70 cm. It is a 144 × 70 cm two-seater, and it is the one that fits between the table and the wall where others do not.
RATRI — 90 cm deep, 178 cm long, three seats. The twenty-centimetre difference from NOVIAL is noticeable in a kitchen: it is almost a third of the walkway.
MIND, COLLIE and MODE — 94–95 cm. This is living room depth in a narrow body. They will fit a spacious kitchen-studio or a dining room, but in an elongated kitchen 2.5 m wide they will feel cramped.
So do not look for a “compact sofa” — look at two numbers together: the depth and width of the chosen option. Both are on each model’s product page.
How much space to leave around it
Walkway between the sofa and the table — from 75 cm, to push back a chair and stand up. If it is a through route, meaning people also walk past the sofa, — from 90 cm.
Work it out like this: sofa depth plus walkway. NOVIAL is 70 + 75 = 145 cm from the wall. COLLIE is already 95 + 75 = 170 cm. In a kitchen 250 cm wide, the first option leaves room for a table, the second hardly any.
Measure the width along the wall, not the recess. The skirting board, radiator and door architrave take their centimetres — the sofa should fit with at least two or three to spare.
Will it have a sleeping area
The honest answer: in a kitchen, usually not, and that is fine.
NOVIAL is a non-folding sofa. For sitting, not sleeping. For a kitchen this is rather a plus: a mechanism adds depth and weight, and there is nowhere to unfold a sofa in the middle of a kitchen anyway.
MODE unfolds as a Eurobook, but in the 170 cm option this is a 140 × 120 cm guest bed — for one person to stay the night. An everyday sleeping area in this model starts at a width of 270 cm, and that is no longer a kitchen sofa.
If a sleeping area in the kitchen is essential, look not here but at the selection for everyday sleeping, link below. The models there are wider, but they have an orthopaedic base.
If no width fits
The kitchen is where centimetres most often do not match the catalogue: a 165 cm recess, a boxed-in pipe, a window.
The factory makes the sofa to your dimensions — this is not a separate “made-to-order” service but our normal way of production: the width, depth, seat height and configuration change. What exactly can be changed in a specific model, the technologist will tell you after measuring.
A practical tip: before ordering, mark a rectangle of the real size on the floor with masking tape and live with it for a day. It is the cheapest way to see whether the sofa is too big — and it is more accurate than any visualisation.
