Three models with the Eurobook mechanism — from the compact MODE to the CLASSY corner sofa. The mechanism unfolds in one movement and gives a flat surface without a step in the middle. Below — how the models differ in sleeping area and which scenarios they suit.

How the Eurobook mechanism works

The seat slides forward and the backrest lowers into the freed space — the result is a flat surface without a join or a difference in height. One person can unfold the sofa, without effort and without help.

The main advantage of this mechanism is simplicity. It has a minimum of moving parts, so it fails less often than more complex folding systems. That is why the Eurobook is often chosen when the sofa will be unfolded every day.

There is also a limitation worth knowing in advance: to unfold, the sofa needs to be moved slightly away from the wall. How far depends on the model, so before buying, check that there is enough space in your room.

How the MeBelle models differ

The key difference is the size of the sleeping area. And it depends not only on the model: in MODE and GUNNA the sleeping area grows with the length of the sofa, so the same model in different sizes suits different purposes.

CLASSY is a corner sofa with a 175 × 130 cm sleeping area, the same in all sizes. The corner is interchangeable: it can be assembled for the left or right side of the living room. Width to choose from — 200, 220 or 280 cm.

MODE is a modular model in three lengths, and the sleeping area differs between them: 170 cm gives 120 × 140, 270 cm — 220 × 140, 340 cm — 290 × 140. The smallest size is for daytime rest, not sleep: 120 cm is too little even for a teenager. The two larger ones give a full sleeping area, larger than a standard 200 cm bed.

GUNNA is a straight sofa in two lengths: 200 cm gives a 160 × 140 sleeping area, 230 cm — 190 × 140.

We state the figures plainly, because a return due to unmet expectations is the worst scenario for both you and us. The first figure is the length you lie on. Guideline: from 190 cm — for everyday sleeping, less — for guests. By this rule, MODE in 270 and 340 cm and GUNNA in 230 cm are suitable for everyday sleeping, while MODE 170 and GUNNA 200 are not.

The second figure — 140 cm — is the same in all versions. That is already the width of a double sleeping area: two people are not cramped on such a sofa, whatever the first figure.

A sofa bed that needs no mattress

A familiar story: someone buys a sofa bed, sleeps on it for a month, then buys a thin mattress or a mattress topper — because the surface is uneven or lacks support.

Our sofa bed models have an orthopaedic base: the unfolded surface is ready for everyday sleeping straight away, with nothing extra to buy.

The comparison here is not “sofa versus sofa”, but a sofa with a ready sleeping area versus a sofa plus a mattress. In the second case, another purchase is added to the price, and the total comes out higher.

In the specifications of each model this is a separate line — “Orthopaedic properties”. If you are choosing a sofa specifically for everyday sleeping, check it before ordering.

Filling

All our upholstered furniture is filled with durable polyurethane foam of varying density. Firmer layers underneath provide support and hold the shape; softer layers on top provide seating comfort.

We do not use spring units. A combination of polyurethane foam of varying density gives even support across the whole surface: no separate areas that sag on their own, and no metal that starts responding to every movement over time.

A layer of hollow fibre lies between the fabric and the foam. It holds the shape: it keeps the upholstery from sagging and smooths the transition, so creases do not appear at the seams over time.

Hidden parts are lined with Fibertex — the underside and inner surfaces that nobody looks at in a showroom, yet this is where a piece quietly wears the most. The lining protects the inner layers from dust and friction.

This solution is the same across the whole range — from a pouf to a large corner sofa. You do not choose between a “cheap” and an “expensive” filling: it is the same, and the price difference goes into the construction, size and fabric.

More on this in the article Polyurethane foam or spring unit: why our sofas have no springs.

Fabrics

All our fabrics are hypoallergenic. In addition, some collections have extra properties: anti-scratch — with a dense weave that stands up better to claws, and water-repellent — with a treatment that makes stains easier to remove.

The fabrics are divided into three categories — ECO, PRESTIGE and PREMIUM. It is important to understand that the category determines the price, not the set of properties. Anti-scratch and water-repellent collections exist in different categories, so choose by the specific collection, not by the tier.

Tell our manager about your situation — children, pets, a sunny side, how often you plan to clean — and you will get a selection of specific collections for your case. We send samples so you can see and touch them before ordering.

Before ordering

Measure not only the spot where the sofa will stand but also the route it will be carried along: the width of the doors, the turn in the corridor, the size of the lift. For corner and modular models, check the dimensions of the individual modules — they often get through where the assembled sofa would not.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Eurobook differ from the Dolphin?
In a Eurobook, the seat slides forward and the backrest lowers into its place. In a Dolphin, the lower section pulls out from under the seat and rises level with it. The main practical difference: a Dolphin unfolds without moving away from the wall, while a Eurobook needs a little spare space.
Which sofa in this selection is suitable for everyday sleeping?
Look at the length of the sleeping area, not the model. CLASSY gives 175 × 130 cm in any size. MODE depends on the length: 120 × 140 in the 170 cm size, 220 × 140 in 270 cm and 290 × 140 in 340 cm. GUNNA — 160 × 140 in the 200 cm size and 190 × 140 in 230 cm. For everyday sleeping you need a length no shorter than your height with some to spare, so the smallest MODE is not suitable for this.
Do these sofas have a storage compartment?
In CLASSY, a storage compartment in the corner section is available as an optional extra at additional cost. MODE and GUNNA have no compartment. Among our other models, a compartment is available, for example, in VINCE and ISSA — availability is stated in the specifications on each product page.
How much space should I leave to the wall?
It depends on the model: when unfolding, the sofa moves forward. Our manager will give you the exact figure for a specific model and width — send us your room dimensions and we will calculate it.
Can the size be changed to fit my room?
Yes, we make furniture at our own factory and take on non-standard sizes. Each change is agreed with the technologist in advance: not all design changes are possible without losing strength. Our manager gives the lead time for custom sizes after agreement.
