15 straight sofas of our own production — from a compact 144 cm model to a 360-centimetre one for a large living room. Four of them unfold into a sleeping area; the rest are for sitting. You choose the fabric from three collections and the width from the options of the specific model.
Straight or corner
A straight sofa is easier to fit and easier to move: it stands along one wall, is not tied to a corner and does not dictate the layout for years ahead. You can turn it towards the window, move it to another room or place it with its back to the dining area to divide the space.
A corner sofa gives more seats on the same wall, but it is planned for a specific room and corner side. If you have not settled on the layout yet or often rearrange things, a straight sofa is the safer choice. A detailed comparison: Corner or straight sofa.
What width you need
Allow 60 cm per person plus the armrests. Hence simple guidelines: 150–170 cm — two people, 200–220 cm — three without crowding, 240–280 cm — four.
In our range the most compact is Novial at 144 cm, the largest is ARAM, up to 360 cm. Many models come in several widths: for example, VINCE — from 200 to 300 cm, Mind — from 150 to 250 cm.
The wall should be at least 60 cm longer than the sofa — then it does not look squeezed in. A detailed size table: Sofa sizes.
Depth — the dimension people forget
The depth of our straight sofas is from 70 cm (Novial) to 105 cm (MITRA). Around 70–90 cm — an upright seat, comfortable for sitting at a coffee table and getting up. 100 cm and more — a sofa you sit on with your feet up and lie down on to rest.
How depth affects the seat: Sofa height and depth.
Sofa bed or not
Four of the straight models unfold: VINCE and ISSA — Dolphin mechanism, GUNNA — Eurobook, NORDIK — Tick-tock. The rest are sofas for sitting, non-folding.
If someone will sleep on the sofa, see the separate selection: sofa beds.
Filling
All our upholstered furniture is filled with durable polyurethane foam of varying density. Firmer layers underneath provide support and hold the shape; softer layers on top provide seating comfort.
We do not use spring units. A combination of polyurethane foam of varying density gives even support across the whole surface: no separate areas that sag on their own, and no metal that starts responding to every movement over time.
A layer of hollow fibre lies between the fabric and the foam. It holds the shape: it keeps the upholstery from sagging and smooths the transition, so creases do not appear at the seams over time.
Hidden parts are lined with Fibertex — the underside and inner surfaces that nobody looks at in a showroom, yet this is where a piece quietly wears the most. The lining protects the inner layers from dust and friction.
This solution is the same across the whole range — from a pouf to a large corner sofa. You do not choose between a “cheap” and an “expensive” filling: it is the same, and the price difference goes into the construction, size and fabric.
More on this in the article Polyurethane foam or spring unit: why our sofas have no springs.
Fabrics
All our fabrics are hypoallergenic. In addition, some collections have extra properties: anti-scratch — with a dense weave that stands up better to claws, and water-repellent — with a treatment that makes stains easier to remove.
The fabrics are divided into three categories — ECO, PRESTIGE and PREMIUM. It is important to understand that the category determines the price, not the set of properties. Anti-scratch and water-repellent collections exist in different categories, so choose by the specific collection, not by the tier.
Tell our manager about your situation — children, pets, a sunny side, how often you plan to clean — and you will get a selection of specific collections for your case. We send samples so you can see and touch them before ordering.
