Why “sofa bed” and “for everyday sleeping” are not the same thing

A familiar story: people buy a sofa, sleep on it for a month and then buy a mattress topper — because the surface is uneven or lacks support. Formally the sofa unfolds; in practice, sleeping on it every night is uncomfortable.

The difference is made by the base under the sleeping area. In the models of this selection it is orthopaedic — a separate line in the specifications that we do not assign to everything: there are sofa beds in the catalogue without it, and they are not included here.

The comparison is not “sofa versus sofa” but a sofa with a ready sleeping area versus a sofa plus a mattress. In the second case, another purchase is added to the price, and the total comes out higher.

The mechanism decides how often you will unfold it

Dolphin — ISSA and VINCE. The lower part slides forward and rises; it unfolds in one movement, without effort. The most convenient option when the sofa is folded every morning.

Tick-tock — NORDIK. The seat moves forward “in a step” without touching the floor. This matters where there is parquet or a long-pile rug: the mechanism scratches nothing.

Eurobook — GUNNA and MODE. The simplest and most reliable design: the seat rolls out and the backrest lies down into the space created. It takes a little more effort to unfold, but there is almost nothing to break.

All three mechanisms are designed for daily folding. The difference is not in durability but in effort and how much space is needed in front of the sofa.

Not all of them have a storage compartment

Pillows and a duvet need somewhere to live during the day — otherwise every morning they move to the wardrobe, and that is the small thing that eventually makes a sofa for sleeping tiresome.

ISSA and NORDIK have one. On the product page it is a separate line.

VINCE does not — we write it as it is, not as it would be more convenient to sell.

For GUNNA and MODE, the storage compartment is not stated on the product page — check with our manager before ordering; we will not guess on behalf of production.

Look not at the model, but at the model’s size

In two models the sleeping area depends on the chosen width, and the difference is fundamental.

GUNNA: the 200 cm option gives a 140 × 160 cm sleeping area — a guest format, for staying the night. An everyday 140 × 190 cm sleeping area starts from a width of 230 cm.

MODE: 170 cm is 140 × 120 cm, a purely guest option. For everyday sleeping you need 270 or 340 cm, where the sleeping area is 140 × 220 and 140 × 290 cm.

So when choosing a sofa specifically for sleeping, check the sleeping area in the chosen option, not in the model in general. On the product page it is recalculated together with the price.

If you need a corner sofa

A straight sofa for everyday sleeping is limited by the width of the room; a corner sofa gives a longer sleeping area in the same metres, because part of the length runs along the second wall.
