In a kitchen, a chair works every day and gets dirtier than any other upholstered furniture in the home. So what matters here is not looks but fabric and dimensions.
How many fit at your table
The formula is simple: table length divided by chair width. Our models range from 48 cm (Dali) to 60 cm (Sea).
- 120 cm table — two per side
- 160 cm table — three with a width of 48–50 cm, two with 56–60 cm
- 180 cm table — three per side
Count the ends only if the table is at least 80 cm wide — otherwise a person will sit with their knees against the neighbours’ legs.
You need 75–80 cm behind the chair to the wall, to push back and stand up. In a kitchen-studio with a through route — 100 cm.
Fabric for the kitchen
Here the requirements are the opposite of the living room: looks are secondary, washability is what matters.
A protective treatment is essential. Things get spilled in the kitchen regularly, and the question is not “whether” but “can it be wiped off”.
Basket-weave fabric and microfibre are more practical than velvet. A dense weave absorbs less, and the texture hides small marks.
Light-coloured chairs in a kitchen look new for about six months. If there are children at home, take darker or multicoloured — this is not about taste but about how often you clean.
Backrest height in a kitchen-studio
Up to 20 m², take low backrests. Louis (74 cm), Mone (81 cm) and Sea (80 cm) do not block the view, and the dining area is not visually cut off from the living room.
High backrests — Muse (100 cm), Taco (86 cm), Pourvie (85 cm), Dali (90 cm) — work better in a separate dining room, where they create a rhythm rather than a barrier.
Frequently asked questions
- Which fabric should I choose for the kitchen?
- One with a protective treatment and a dense weave — basket-weave fabric or microfibre. Velvet and light shades in a kitchen need much more frequent care.
- How many chairs fit at a 160 cm table?
- Three per side with a chair width of 48–50 cm, or two with 56–60 cm. Plus the ends if the table is at least 80 cm wide.
- Are there chairs with removable covers?
- It depends on the model — ask our manager about a specific one. A removable cover changes the economics: washing instead of reupholstering.
- Can I order a chair narrower than 48 cm?
- The technologist calculates the dimensions for a specific drawing. If the table or recess is non-standard, this is a normal order.
