Chair width decides the capacity of the dining room
This is a calculation people make after opening, when it is too late to change anything.
Our narrowest model is Taco, 50 cm. The widest is Sea, 60 cm. At a 160 cm table, that is a difference of one seat on each side.
Multiply by the number of tables: ten tables × one seat is ten guests an evening that the room could have seated and did not.
The standard per person is a 60 cm wide zone at the table: plate, glass, elbows. Chair width and place width are different figures, but it is the first that determines how many physically fit in a row.
What to consider for a dining room, not a home
Walkway behind the chair — 75–80 cm, so a guest can push back and stand up. Where a waiter walks with a tray — 120 cm.
Fabric is not the place to save. In a restaurant, furniture gets as much contact in a month as home furniture does in a year. Ask our manager about abrasion resistance and protective treatment: the question is not “will they spill” but “can it be wiped off”.
Darker shades are more practical. Not because they look better, but because stains between cleanings are less noticeable on them.
Backrest height changes the feel of the room. A low one (74–81 cm) does not block the view or divide the space; a high one (85–100 cm) makes the dining set a feature, but in dense seating it reads as a fence.
Ordering in batches
The most important question is whether you can reorder the same thing in a year. In a dining room, chairs fail one at a time, and a model in a different shade is immediately visible. We are a factory, so a model does not “run out of stock” — but the fabric collection may change, so fix the article number with our manager at the start.
Take 5–10% spare. One chair in the back room is cheaper than reupholstering a whole row.
Fewer models in a batch — shorter lead time. Cutting and setup are done once per model, so three models of seven pieces each are made faster than seven models of three.
If the opening is postponed, we store the finished order in our warehouse for up to 6 months free of charge.
Frequently asked questions
- How many chairs fit at a 180 cm table?
- Three per side with a chair width of 50–60 cm. Plus one at each end if the table is at least 80 cm wide.
- Are there models with armrests?
- Yes, Novial — the only one in the range. Armrests are more comfortable for long evenings but eat up width: fewer of them fit at the same table.
- Which fabric should I take for a dining room?
- Ask our manager about abrasion resistance and protective treatment for a specific collection. Saving on the tier does not pay off in a venue.
- What is the lead time for a batch?
- It depends on the number of models and the volume — our manager gives it for the specific order. The conversation is worth starting at the stage of planning the dining room, not after the renovation.
