Why a round pouf is more versatile than a square one

No sharp corners. In a walkway, a child’s room or by the bed, this is not aesthetics but safety: nobody bangs into a round pouf.

No need to line it up. A square pouf placed at an angle to the sofa reads as a mistake. A round one looks right in any position — it is not “placed straight”, it is simply placed.

It softens straight lines. In a room where the sofa, table and wardrobe form a continuous grid of right angles, a round object breaks it up. It is the simplest way to make an interior less rigid.

The diameter decides what the piece is

35–45 cm — a footrest. You can sit on it, but not for long: the small area means you sit on the edge. The key figure here is not the diameter but the height: the pouf should be level with the sofa seat or slightly lower, otherwise your legs rise above your hips, and after half an hour that becomes tiring.

50–60 cm — a full extra seat. Two such poufs give two seats and take up less space than one armchair.

75–100 cm — a replacement for a coffee table. Here the height is deliberately lower (35–50 cm) so you can reach a cup from the sofa. A soft surface is not a table: put the cup on a tray.

What to consider before buying

A large pouf in front of the sofa takes up a metre. A 100 cm pouf plus a 40 cm gap to the seat is 140 cm that you need to have.

Only MAROON has storage. It is the only model in the range with a built-in drawer; the rest are solid. Do not buy another round pouf expecting that “there is probably room inside”.
