The classic single standard: a child does not just sleep on it but has room to turn over. A size that works from pre-school age right into adulthood.
Why 90 cm is the most versatile size
This is the width at which a kids’ bed stops being temporary. On 80 cm a teenager is already cramped; on 90 cm they sleep fine even at fifteen.
Length: 190 or 200. For a height of up to 175 cm, 190 cm is enough. But boys keep growing until 18–19, so if you are buying “so as not to change it again”, take 200.
How much space it takes. A 90 cm bed against the wall plus a 60 cm walkway is 150 cm of room width. It fits practically anywhere, which is why this size is chosen most often.
What it gives the room
A bed in a child’s room is also a sofa. A teenager sits on it with a laptop and with friends. On 90 cm this is already comfortable; on 80, it is not.
That is why an upholstered headboard here is not decorative: people lean back against it every day, and a wooden one is not made for that.
A sofa bed that needs no mattress
A familiar story: someone buys a sofa bed, sleeps on it for a month, then buys a thin mattress or a mattress topper — because the surface is uneven or lacks support.
Our sofa bed models have an orthopaedic base: the unfolded surface is ready for everyday sleeping straight away, with nothing extra to buy.
The comparison here is not “sofa versus sofa”, but a sofa with a ready sleeping area versus a sofa plus a mattress. In the second case, another purchase is added to the price, and the total comes out higher.
In the specifications of each model this is a separate line — “Orthopaedic properties”. If you are choosing a sofa specifically for everyday sleeping, check it before ordering.
Frequently asked questions
- How is 90 cm better than 80 cm?
- Ten centimetres give room at the sides: the child turns over without thinking about the edge, and the bed is comfortable to sit on during the day. In the room this difference is hardly noticeable.
- Until what age will a 90 × 200 bed be enough?
- It is an adult single sleeping area — it will not become outdated. You will only need to change it if you want something wider.
- Can the bed have a storage compartment?
- Yes, a lift-up mechanism with a storage compartment is available as an option on most models. Check availability and cost with our manager.
- Are these models available in other sizes?
- Yes, most come in six or seven sizes — from 80 × 190 to 180 × 200 cm. This is convenient when two children of different ages share a room.
